The Challenge

You are a data analyst tasked with analyzing procurement and supply chain transactions to generate actionable business insights. The data comes from multiple sources and requires:

  • Data Integration - Combining transaction data with reference tables
  • Data Cleansing - Resolving formatting and content errors
  • Data Analysis - Extracting insights through operations and analytics
  • Automation - Building reusable workflows for ongoing analysis

Business Objectives

Through this module, you'll address key business questions:

Operational Questions

  • Which suppliers are we working with?
  • What are our spending patterns across categories?
  • How are costs distributed across departments?

Strategic Questions

  • Which suppliers account for the most spending? (ABC Analysis)
  • Which items have the most variable demand? (XYZ Analysis)
  • How should we prioritize supplier management? (ABC-XYZ Matrix)

Data Sources

Transaction Data

The main business_transaction table contains:

  • Purchase orders and invoices

  • Supplier references (IDs only)

  • Category classifications

  • Cost center allocations

  • Transaction amounts

Reference Data

Lookup tables provide:

  • Supplier ID to Name mappings

  • Category ID to Name mappings

  • Hierarchical category structures


Your Role

As a data analyst, you will:

  1. Prepare the data by importing and cleaning datasets
  2. Transform data using LOGIBLOX Flow Builder
  3. Integrate multiple data sources through joins and merges
  4. Analyze patterns using aggregations and statistics
  5. Visualize insights through charts and graphs
  6. Automate workflows for repeatable analysis
